A one day increase in product life can significantly reduce food waste

Nearly 15 million tonnes of food is wasted in the UK every year and almost half of it comes from our households.

A recent report from WRAP has revealed that increasing product life by one day could save 250,000 tonnes of waste a year.

Most often people get rid of food because they cooked too much or were not able to use it in time.WRAP has estimated that an increase in product life by just one day could save the population approximately £0.6 billion a year.

Businesses could also benefit by saving around £0.1 billion on waste prevention and increasing sales from improved on-shelf availability.

Easy-to-open food packaging including an innovative Reseal-it® concept from Macfarlane Labels can contribute to reducing food waste in future.

Reseal-it® allows products to be opened and closed up to 25 times, which keeps them fresher for longer. This can considerably extend the traditional “use by” and “best before” dates.

Leading FMCG manufacturers across a range of product sectors are already using our labelling system. Visit our webpage for more details: http://www.resealit.com/
